Quick London travel question

I have to do a last-minute dash to London tomorrow.

I last used my oyster card about a million years ago and can't find it, and don't have time to find it before tomorrow.

The TFL website seems to indicate that I can use a contactless card in exactly the same way as an oyster - tapping in and out at the beginning and end of the journey. However there's also a bit about setting up a contactless account and it's really not clear whether this is an optional add-on if you're going to but using it often to keep an eye on your journeys, or whether I have to do that to use my contactless card.

Does anyone know whether I can just rock up with my contactless card and get on with it?

I know this is probably simple etc but the reason for the last minute dash is somewhat emotionally fraught and I can't seem to get my head round it all.

You can. I do it all the time. No need for Oyster anymore.

I think you can just use a contactless card - don't think you need to set up an account.

We’ve jst come back form London, you can definitely jst use your contactless card, jst make sure you use the same card to tap on and tap out and if you use the same card all day if you’re travelling multiple times then you’ll get the price capped(can’t remember exactly but I think it’s about £8 per day) no matter how many times you travel

You'll only really need an account to get travel receipts etc, if you need to claim it back / submit business expenses

And make sure you tap it separately to any other cards so you don't get card clash
