Has anyone else changed their plans because it is too hot for them !

Honestly, I had plans to go for a long walk today and its 2pm and I have done very little. Not helped by DD's body clock being completely opposite to mine so an early walk just doesn't happen. Add in that I am an asthmatic, peri-menopausal woman and the heat is just too much for me.

All or nothing isn't it, we were away last week and it was down to 8 degrees at night and rained all week.

I am dodging the heat, inside, outside, have got a million jobs to do and am not succeeding at all.

Hopefully I will get out for a walk this evening. Tell me it isn't just me!

I need to do 20 miles as I'm marathon training, I'm going to do it tomorrow as it's so hot today so I'm lying in the garden resting my legs and enjoying the sunshine

milliefiori · 26/08/2019 14:55

Went for a short hike over the hill with DS2. Have baked a blackberry and apple crumble with our own fruit - I think it's too hot for anything but ice-cream but DH begged. just started to trim an overgrown shrub in front of our house and managed to cut through a wire Blush so have come in to cool down before admitting this to DH.

scoobyd2 · 26/08/2019 14:55

and Dyson fans are shit. Save your money.

Glad I never forked out! I got one of those little chiller thingies that you put cold water in, for £25 off Amazon, it's lovely. But noisy. Especially on max with 2 other fans on max. I've switched on subtitles on the TV coz I can't hear a thing Grin

So there are a few of us then! Tennis was brave Solitude, we play tennis and there is no way I would go today.

Sorry to hear about your DD Cornetto. That is tough. I think your DH got the good end of the deal thenightsky.

I have to brace myself for Costco Oblomov, that is almost as brave as anything else in my book.

I am still hoping to go for a walk tonight at some point, via the nice pub on the river but that involves having another shower and drying my hair so maybe not.

I have got all my windows open, sashes so huge openings when half is all the way up, I have got a bit of a breeze through the house.

I have decided to cut out and pin the smallest roman blind ... progress.

Yes. I had planned for our dog to win the prizes for 'best eyes' at the village fete (he's come second two years in a row-I felt like this was really his time), but the dog show element was cancelled so he has been scuppered again! Grin

joystir59 · 26/08/2019 15:00

Were going to take Dog out but it's too hot, so just the two of us have been for a dip in the sea amongst the absolute crowds of holidaying families. All our neighbours and friends stay away from the sea front in the high season but we quite like being part of the holiday atmosphere. Then sat in a sea front cafe sharing some chips and having a nice coffee. We are back home now. Dog baking out in the garden and OH showering the sand off and getting ready for work. I will take Dog out later when its cooled down a bit.

katmarie · 26/08/2019 15:04

I was planning to take ds (18 months) to the park today, but the heat is just too much so my pregnant ass (32 weeks) is alternating between the sofa under the ceiling fan and the back garden where we have a little paddling pool set up for him. Much more chilled.

Binglebong · 26/08/2019 15:21

Today I was meant to go wander around the Steampunk festival in nearest city. Nope, that's not happening either.

Event beginning with an A? Was there yesterday - good call. A lot of people decided to forgo the corsets!

I was meant to be taking BingleWoof for a lovely long walk in the cool woods this weekend. Just not happening. Although we do now know which ice lollies he likes.Grin

LunaLovesgood · 26/08/2019 15:58

I'm having a lovely time thank you Life Grin DD is still asleep. I have no idea whether to wake her up or not. Help!

Also, what's everyone having for tea tonight? Can't be bothered cooking but obviously we're all going to need to be fed at some point tonight.

maddiemookins16mum · 26/08/2019 16:04

I’ve slobbed on the sofa with tea and the telly for two days. It’s great.

LaurieFairyCake · 26/08/2019 16:14

Yesterday and today stayed in - actually pretty pissed off

Can't possibly go out with dog or on my own, it's 33 degrees

I HATE this weather.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/08/2019 16:16

We'd planned for a walk and a picnic, but decided on a pub lunch in the shade in the beer garden instead. Too hot for sitting out in full sun, or walking far!

janj2301 · 26/08/2019 16:19

Was going to cut the grass this weekend, no way now. Decided to do a spot of painting, i like to put paint on left to right, then go over up and diwn to even out the cover. No chance, it had practically dried before the up/down.

YesQueen · 26/08/2019 16:21

My cat has the right idea. He's been there asleep for about 3hrs snoring away

Has anyone else changed their plans because it is too hot for them !
areyoubeingserviced · 26/08/2019 16:23

Was supposed to go to the gym this morning.
Far too hot, so I made myself a huge fry up and a cold smoothie.
Kids have gone to my mum for a few days and dh is playing football .
I am going to settle down and watch a Netflix film

MinnieMountain · 26/08/2019 16:30

We stuck to plans- friends round for a BBQ. Now we're all relieved they've left so we can slob in front of the TV.

DogHasEatenTheSqueaker · 26/08/2019 16:31

I made bacon sandwiches this morning then took up a shady position in the garden and have been online browsing (sale shopping) all afternoon.

DH and DSD are both fan hugging inside, I'm not going to tell them how nice it is out here in the shade, with the breeze 🤫

Namechange55 · 26/08/2019 16:36

We’ve been to an indoor pool, forgot how hot it was while in there. I can’t stand walking in heat though, we’ve left walking the dogs till evening.

user1497787065 · 26/08/2019 16:39

A miserable weekend. Far too hot to do anything, too hot to sleep well. I haven't left the house for the last three days and I know when I go to work tomorrow everyone will talk about their great weekend and what lovely weather. Grrr, overheating makes me so grumpy.

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 26/08/2019 16:39

We've done nothing all weekend, just lazed around in the garden ,reading, chatting and watching telly when it gets too hot. It's been bliss Smile

BillyAndTheSillies · 26/08/2019 16:40

We'd planned to go away this bank holiday but ended up dog sitting so that limited our options quite a bit.

I'm 33 weeks pregnant and just slobbing about the house trailing a fan behind me.

DS(3) has loved having a lazy weekend with unlimited screen time. He's barely gone outside all weekend apart from DH taking him to the park for a few hours on Saturday morning.

Feels like a waste of a bank holiday but we all just needed to recharge our batteries. We should have been DIYing and redecorating the nursery but none of us have the energy.

LifeOfBox · 26/08/2019 16:58

Well I had a nap instead of cutting out my blind.

Chicken salad wraps here Luna. I took chicken breasts out of the freezer this morning but haven’t got any new potatoes left otherwise it would be chicken salad. I will just flatten them with the rolling pin and pan fry with some barts chicken seasoning.

I am not remotely hungry though, I keep eating cold grapes, melon or peaches every time I walk past the fridge.

It’s cooling down a bit tomorrow when I will be found at a local agricultural show wearing my poncho in the rain 👍🏻.

@bingle Event beginning with an A?

Yes... that one. Smile

Binglebong · 27/08/2019 20:15

Maybe I'll see you next year. Ordering a parasol just in case though!

LifeOfBox · 27/08/2019 20:21

We went to a local agricultural show today in North Yorkshire, it was 27 degrees, very humid and no shade - we left at 2pm because we had had enough of the heat. Great for them though as the turnout was excellent.

I am just awaiting the start of the rain/thunderstorms.
