Yeah no shit! I was taught this in primary school more than 20 years ago! It's not a new fact!!

How unbelievably rude Hmm

I didn't know that fact chomalungma.

OooErMissus · 27/08/2019 08:23

So how come every whitebait fritter you come across, the fish are identical....?

Can’t really get passed humming and elephant juice😂😂😂
I don’t get out much😂😂😂

OooErMissus · 27/08/2019 08:24

Meant to quote...

There are no such fish as "whitebait" it's just a term for any fish of a certain size.

chomalungma · 27/08/2019 08:26

I have this very strong feeling that @Omega369 misread what I said.

Or she had a very smart primary teacher.

WeshMaGueule · 27/08/2019 08:49

Tin foil is meant to be used dull side up

No, it makes no earthly difference. If there was a right way up it would say so on the box.

Biggie123 · 27/08/2019 08:56

@chomalungma ha ha. oh dear me. Get me back to school!
I understand your point now (finally!)

TravelDreamLife · 27/08/2019 08:57

It's the twinkling lights. They're considered an art installation & are less than 50 years old so it's copyright. Not sure what the deal is but I'm not deleting my photos!

ShowOfHands · 27/08/2019 09:16

The game TAG actually stands for touch and go!

It really doesn't. This was an "omg mind blown" piece of nonsense that circulated on FB and elsewhere a while ago. Somebody has invented it as a fact.

Relationshipsajoke · 27/08/2019 09:19

My dd has recently claimed that everything in the world is green and we all just see it differently. I don’t really know how we could ever prove or disprove that? her friends mum is a scientist and told her this apparently Hmm

ErrolTheDragon · 27/08/2019 09:23

So how come every whitebait fritter you come across, the fish are identical....?

I'd guess many batches are from large shoals of the same type of young. And a lot of fish fry probably do look pretty similar - flatfish don't start flat, for instance.
Those look longer and thinner than any whitebait I've ever had, though I've only ever had them floured and fried so it's harder to see what they are.

Rockbird · 27/08/2019 09:23

My box of tinfoil does say so on the box. Or at least it says the non stick side is the dull side.

tirednhungry247 · 27/08/2019 09:25

Lobsters see more colours than us.

That's a 3am can't - sleep - thought for ya GrinHmm

That's just silly, I don't suppose the scientist told her any such thing. Something will be green if it emits or reflects predominantly green light, which is a range of wavelengths. That's what 'green' means. A spectrophotometer will show what colours of light are in a source. Consider the light of sodium lamps - this is caused by emissions at a couple of specific 'yellow' wavelengths, no green. Of course, each person's perception may be different- depends on the sensitivity of the colour receptors in their eye, plus hoe the brain interprets this information. Obviously there are colourblind blokes who can't distinguish green in the same way as most people (I have a relative who can't tell the difference between the bright green and brown pegs in the old 'mastermind' game).

ErrolTheDragon · 27/08/2019 09:38

Lobsters see more colours than us.

So do many insects and birds - some are tetrachromats (ie have 4 types of colour receptors rather than our 3 which respond to ranges of red, green and blue) - so some can see into the ultraviolet. Quite a lot of butterflies which look black to us are shades of ultraviolet if you can detect it. (Not greenGrin)

Some contraceptive pills can be used as the morning after pill, as long as you take a certain amount in a certain time frame. I’m still trying to take that one in (the idea of that many pills makes me boke)

OooErMissus · 27/08/2019 09:49

These are whitebait in NZ. Where you'll only ever find them all looking exactly as pictured.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/08/2019 10:01

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitebait

Your 'whitebait' are mostly a species which won't be in the U.K. mix. Which proves the point, there's no species 'whitebait'.

WeshMaGueule · 27/08/2019 10:05

Well apparently you can get special non-stick foil that has a special coating on the dull side. It makes no difference with normal foil.

CoolcoolcoolcoolcoolNoDoubt · 27/08/2019 10:13

This thread is incredible.

Shock
MoederVanEen · 27/08/2019 10:25

@ErrolTheDragon

Those wavelengths are not the same thing as "colour". Nothing in the world actually has a colour because colour is entirely created by the brain of the perceiver. There are many visual illusions that demonstrate this (well worth a google).

Also there is good evidence to suggest that our ancestors could not perceive blue - they described the sky as gold or brown!

tirednhungry247 · 27/08/2019 10:33

@ErrolTheDragon great that's me totally distracted thinking about this during meetings in works GrinGrin

fandabbyfannyflutters · 27/08/2019 10:33

Oh my the Danny Devito and the key fob windows have blown my mind!
