What the hell are my eyes doing?

A week ago I was driving and felt like I was being blinded by the light- like my eyes were letting too much in. When it became shady my eyes would take forever to readjust. I didn’t think anything of it

Now, I’m the last 10 minutes, I felt that feeling of too much light again, and have gone to sit in a dark room. I can see a weird psychedelic multicoloured weird flashing or movement around my field of vision- I think above my eye as I can’t ‘look’ at it. It’s not going or settling!

It’s reminding me of the attached image, but it’s moving constantly!

I normally wear glasses- my Vision isn’t terrible and I can get by without them. Wearing glasses is not helping reduce whatever this flashing is

What the hell are my eyes doing?

Almost certainly a migraine.
Just in case - if you use hormonal contraception you might need a chat with your GP because it can indicate that you're higher risk for thrombosis.

I have a Marina coil- I think that’s non hormonal?

I had a similar thing happen to me once after I went on a long walk on a hot day and got dehydrated and low blood sugar level. The GP said I had triggered off a visual migraine (I didn’t get a headache, just the weird area in the top right of my vision that looked like a kaleidoscope). Think it lasted about 45 mins but went away once I downed loads of water and ate a snack.

It sounds like an occural migraine, I only had one and it was very scary. My optician was very reassuring.

Friend's detached retina she described similarly. Do get it checked asap.

I had a visual migraine once.
There's some YouTube videos that are quite good at representing what they're like.
