"Isms" on Mumsnet

I'm avoiding AIBU because threads there often end in an argument and I really don't want one.

So, if I don't get "traffic" I'll accept it.

There are various, what may be described as, "Isms". It seems to me.

For example, often people who criticise Meghan Markle or Prince Harry are accused of racism.

(I mention that because, personally, I've noticed it quite a bit.)

But ageism seems to me the most prevalent and least objected to on MN.

Just throwing that out there for a (hopefully reasonable and well argued) debate.

Good point edgeofheaven.

Plus of course picking people up on language use/spelling that is perfectly acceptable in America.

RippleEffects, Flowers thats terrible big hugs to your son. you expect to see very young children and people probably think its just a tantrum but surely at an adult size they would understand something is wrong, stupid, stupid people. Angry

I've certainly discovered from this thread that there are a lot more "-isms" here (and that will mean in society in general) than I realised.

Now you mention it, edgeofheaven, I certainly have seen anti-Americanism on MN.

I wonder if that's worse since D. Trump became elected.
To me, he seems to embody the worst of the cliches about citizens of the USA.
Whereas Americans ( I went to a North American school for two years, so I met a few) are nice people wanting to get on with their lives.

Like nearly all nationalities of whatever ethnic group, health, age etc

Phrased badly.

Like nearly all people of any nationality of whatever ethnic group, health, age etc.
