18th birthday present ideas for friend's son?

My friend's son turns 18 next month. I'd like to get him something as obviously it's such a big birthday, but I've no idea what's popular among teenagers these days, so if anyone has any suggestions they'd be most gratefully received! My budget can go up to about £50.

Ideally it needs to be something fairly portable, and also I'd like to keep cash/Amazon vouchers as a last resort.

Honestly, just go for vouchers. Teenage boys are incredibly difficult to buy for. He'd produce be absolutely thrilled with a fifty quid voucher.

If you don't know him well enough to judge what would be well received then either ask your friend or give him the money.

Not much point in asking my friend directly as I know she'll say don't get him anything, there's no need etc.

There's a big income discrepancy between the two of us, so wouldn't want to cause embarrassment giving cash, but also I suppose you're right when you say he probably would appreciate vouchers more anyway.
