Hair loss late 40s

Anyone have any tips to minimise hair loss.

Stopped the pill 5 months ago and have had only 1 period (short) since so assuming well into peri menopause.

Taking vitamin D for my bones but not sure whether there is anything else I can do to stop the hair loss. It's definitely more recently so assuming it's down to the hormones.

Just seen an ad on TV for Plantur 39 these USP is less hair loss for women over 40. No personal experience but might be worth a look?

See you GP, to arrange blood test to check your routine blood, thyroid levels, & haematinics

Yep, see the gp. Low iron /ferritin or dodgy thyroid quite often cause hair loss.

I had same thing which start in the peri menopause. It was getting so thin and brittle (each strand was so thin it was barely visible). My gp did bloods which came back as normal but referred me to a dermatologist. She said that my ferritin was ok in that I wasn’t anemic but much too low to support hair growth/health (it was 34 I think ). She said it needed to be 70 -100+ and put me on ferrous fumerate tablets twice daily along with vit D as that was low too. It took about 18 months to see much improvement but it’s now back to how it was ie thin, fine but not falling out and not see through. Def get some bloods done for iron levels, vit D and thyroid and if they come back normal ask to see a printout of the results and see what your ferritin level is. Under 70 I’d recommend asking GP to try you on ferrous fumerate (think I was on 125 mg x 2 daily).

Thanks all.

Will try the GP but I do find them hit and miss on things like this Sad
