Scary things late at night!!

Why is it that I could scroll on Facebook/snapchat/instagram all day and not see one scary thing but at night it all comes out!
Tonight I've seen a horrifying picture of that nun from a horror movie, and penny wise (I fell asleep in the evening and woke up at 2 so that's like one an hour! Last night it was another clown that popped up in a trick video (made out like it was harmless then bam!)
I try to avoid social media at night because of this but unfortunately when I can't sleep mumsnet can only offer so much entertainment in the early hours.

I hear you!

Can't watch anything remotely scary at night. I have to be careful even during the day as my mind goes into overdrive at night and recalls stuff I don't want to think about.

aewwwenxt · 25/08/2019 19:37

Yes! My brain definitely decides to put anything scary into a "remember tonight" box! It's just typical these things always pop up when I'm scrolling just before bed or whilst breastfeeding at 2am!

Nah, you need to go on the "forest service workers what's your creepiest experience" or worse yet "what's the creepiest thing while camping" reddit threads, they're amazing Grin

What nun?

I’ve got “the Conjuring” recorded so must watch that at some point.

S1naidSucks · 26/08/2019 01:01

The scariest thing I’ve seen tonight is the big fecking spider that was on my curtains when I put my hand up to close them. Blurgh 🤢

Though it doesn’t beat the nightmare I had last night. I heard a voice saying “there’s a man in the house” and when I woke up I was in a panic because I wasn’t sure if it was a dream or my wee girl’s voice. I had to check the house. I think it’s because I had a creepy stalker recently and someone had asked if he’d backed off.

S1naidSucks · 26/08/2019 01:02

And now of course I’m going to have to search forest service workers what's your creepiest experience

RosaWaiting · 26/08/2019 01:04

The forest thing is brilliant.

Reminds me a bit of Ghost Stories, the play. Well, one particular section, those who have seen it will know...

TheInebriati · 26/08/2019 01:08

RosaWaiting the 'Tiptoe through the tulips' scene is the scariest thing I've ever watched.

RosaWaiting · 26/08/2019 01:14

S1 sorry, I missed the post about the stalker, I’m so sorry you went through that.

Inebriati do you mean from Insidious? I thought that was terrific till the end...

RosaWaiting · 26/08/2019 01:17

While we’re here, does anyone know what happened to BBFC Insight? I can’t watch blood and gore, that was my go to guide for checking as sometimes you can’t tell if supernatural will cross over into horror. I’ve heard different reports about The Conjuring.

Also thinking to see Scary Stories at local cinema to escape heat tomorrow but can’t find anywhere to check if it’s gory or all fine by suggestion.

This is one of them, some pretty funny ones on there too:

S1naidSucks How awful! No wonder you are unnerved!

aewwwenxt · 26/08/2019 20:34

Oh my god at the stalker/man in the house one! And yes last night I grabbed baby and ran out of my bedroom due to a spider being directly above me. Found this beauty in the kitchen 😬
I shall pass on all scary stories thanks as I'd like to actually sleep 😅
I believe the nun is from the conjuring? Something like that anyway, there was a prank circulating when it first came out that people would be looking in a mirror and suddenly the nun would jump out at them or something. Too scared of it to have a google to see which film it's from.
I may just be a giant wuss but once I've seen something that gives me a jump I can't sleep for hours and usually have to have some kind of light in the room that night
