eBay Fraud

I think someone has stolen something from me via eBay. I sold my old next to me crib, she paid for it via PayPal and collected it but the funds were held. Today I got a message to say that her eBay account was used fraudulently - i still
haven't received the money, it says Held by EBay. Following a lengthy call to eBay they fobbed me off saying I needed to contact the seller and ask for her to leave me feedback to receive the funds and then speak to PayPal to say they need to release the funds as the item was collected - this is despite me saying that I had an email from them advising the buyers account notifying me to say the transaction was fraudulent. I spoke to PayPal who said I need to speak to EBay as the fraud was via them. Has anyone had a similar experience? Was it resolved? I appreciate that I should not have released the item till funds were received but I could see the monies in my PayPal account and thought it was pending post collection ☹️

You shouldn't use paypal for a collected item as then you don't have proof of postage/delivery and they can claim non receipt

Have you tried contacting the buyer?

Sorry this is not what you're going to want to hear but this is why you, as a seller, should never accept PayPal for collected items. Cash only on collection. Otherwise, buyer fucks off with the item, cancels the transaction or cries fraud and you're left with no item and no money.

And eBay will always side with the buyer. I'm hoping someone will be along with more helpful advice soon but be prepared to be out of pocket here. Sorry. It's shit. Sad

Hi both. Yes I have tried contacting the buyer but it will not allow me to do so via eBay as their account is frozen. ☹️ should have opted as cash on collection but didn't think as I thought I would have been protected - lesson learnt 🤦‍♀️

Always trad the terms and conditions before selling on eBay.

PayPal require proof that the buyer has received the item and you can’t do that if you allow them to pay by PayPal and collect.

It’s the oldest trick in the book!

Only ever allow cash on collection.

Hard lesson learned.
