Need a smart phone for my grandad that is easy to use - he's 94!

MIL hated her Doro smartphone, sorry, but loves her iPhone and also her iPad mini. A second hand iPhone or iPad might help. What does he want it for? if he's first timer make sure he doesn't get muddled and use apps that eat data if he doesn't have broadband.

Thanks @PurpleWithRed man in the phone shop said the same thing! He wants it for calls and emails although it will be good for me to text him too. He'll be connected to WiFi so data shouldn't be a problem.
