Birmingham jewellery advice

Hi

We bought my engagement ring yesterday 🙈 it's beautiful but it's a funny shape. None of the wedding rings in the shop went with it - and the sales assistant recommended getting one made

High St jeweller

I'm reluctant to get one made from the High St jeweller because I can imagine they'll charge lots

We are in NI. Is it worth getting a flight over to Birmingham to check out the jewellery quarter?

We can get flights and accommodation for £100 so that's okay

We aren't getting married until June so we have time Smile

Thank you

The Jewellery Quarter is literally jewellery shop next to jewellery shop next to jewellery shop. There are all sorts of talented people working there. It is definitely worth someone relatively local going there - it sounds like you have found good priced flights and accommodation so, why not ? Smile

What I'm not sure about is if you need to make more than one trip, would it still be worth it ?

There is a website here

Might it be worth looking through and maybe contacting a few businesses first, to give you an idea before you come over ?

It would definitely be worth it, so much choice and cheaper than the high street, my engagement ring was made while we went out for lunch.

If you had to fly back without the ring (unlikely as jewellery is made/adjusted on site) they can usually deliver to you.

Have you looked on Etsy? Lots of amazing jewellers on there

Yes it would be worth it imo.

Yes it would be worth it. The insurance certificate for my engagement ring values it at double what hubby paid for it.

Maydayredalert · 24/08/2019 22:08

Yes definitely. I had my wedding ring made there. I couldn't find anything I liked so I drew a picture and they made it perfectly. I made it so that it would fit around my engagement ring (which I didn't buy from there).

I used Kensington jewellers (8 years ago so may still not be there!), but there are so many and others and they are all really good. All the ones we spoke to were helpful.

Definitely worth it, they have some exquisite talent over there and Birmingham is a really cool city with lots to offer.
