Error 207 - cannot access wifi on iPad - any super geeks around?

Staying in a hotel - free wifi one of the prerequisites for me!

Crash out in room looking forward to watching films etc on iPad and cannot access the wifi. Instead get “Error Processing the Request “ message, “ERROR 207” and “AAA internal error”.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix?

Have tried rebooting and clearing safari cache to no avail

Call to Reception produces the lacklustre response of “Oh, another customer couldn’t get on to our wifi with an iPad”

Looks like a problem their end, not with your iPad. Can you hotspot the WiFi from your phone?

I could - but it’s my work phone and I’d be using roaming in the US

(don’t think I can hotspot other than via data?)
