What's it like having a child with ADD/ADHD?

What I'd like to know is, what is it really like parenting a child with ADHD? What is their behaviour really like? How has it impacted at school? Has there been any benefit to assessment? What is it like for you?

I have ADHD so I asked my mum what it was like

Behaviour- she says i was like a tornado leaving a trail of chaos, but until I was diagnosed she thought it was just me being me. She says that compared to my sister I had to be told to do things several times.

School- my mum selected schools with short 40min lessons for me. My sister went to a school with higher Ofsted ratings and longer lessons.

Assesment- not that useful on school since most teachers saw ADHD as an excuse for bad behaviour. Much more useful as an adult.

Her experience as a parent-she cant realy comment on how much was ADHD related since vs how much was just her kid.
She says other parents thought I was spoilt when I was hyper active, but she made a choice not to constantly tell me off.
She said she also had to have eyes everywere dye to my poor impulse control(e.g. at 11 I decided to jump onto a jam bottle to see if I could balance on it..the doctors did not think an 11 year old girl would do that)
