Will your sat nav not accept the coordinates?

sackrifice · 22/08/2019 22:55

You have to change the country first. In settings.

Lulualla · 22/08/2019 22:55

Just put the coordinates into google maps and hit “directions” and choose car. You can download the map onto your phone before you go so you don’t need data.

OtraCosaMariposa · 22/08/2019 22:55

Not all satnavs have European mapping as standard.

SomethingPhishy · 22/08/2019 22:57

What make/model is your sat nav? I had to 'hire' maps for Germany & Netherlands last year for our holiday.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 22/08/2019 23:06

Its a Garmin and I have changed the settings to France. Ok I will download onto my phone dh and I have already rowed as I told him to check it ages ago this is going to be fun!! 😆

Do you not have google maps on your phone OP? Far easier. I've just done this search...

Honestly, google maps is just so much easier. Get the app and then download Britain and France so it’s all stored on your phone for the trip.

fruitpastille · 22/08/2019 23:32

Also you can use your phone in France the same way as the UK so I wouldn't even worry too much about the data if you have a reasonable amount.

WildCherryBlossom · 23/08/2019 03:01

Be careful with French postcodes. They don't seem to pinpoint exact locations in the same way ours do. We found ourselves next to a field about 30 minutes drive away from our accommodation a few years ago (using TomTom).

We use Google maps quite a bit in France now as the data roaming charges don't apply anymore.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 23/08/2019 05:08

Wild cheery yes I think thats part of the problem it seems to cover a wide area 😬 first time driving in France 🇫🇷 so am dreading getting lost 😆

Use Waze.

Saz432 · 23/08/2019 06:33

Noooooo! Do not use Waze. There’ll be a 3 car queue on the main road and it will take you down 300 miles of country roads to save 60 seconds (which you won’t).

hughwhatascorcher · 23/08/2019 08:59

Be aware that the speed limits on many roads changed from 90kph to 80kph last year. Most SatNavs still show the limit as 90kph. Don't get caught out.

whatalifethisis · 23/08/2019 09:08

I also think you have to deactivate any speed camera warnings

sackrifice · 23/08/2019 09:31

I love Waze. It has never been wrong for me.

pieeye · 23/08/2019 10:04

@sackrifice Never let me down either. It's been a game changer for me.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 23/08/2019 10:09

Another vote for Waze, it's always been great.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 23/08/2019 10:32

Morceau d'urine. Go to Carnac Plage, head for La Petit Bedon (lovely and quirky) on Avenue des Druides, take the next left up Alleé St. Michel, Des Menhirs is at the far end. Places to visit: the ice cream shop, the megaliths, Locmariaquer.
