Lots of city breaks across Europe

I'd spend a month in Japan or New Zealand.

Japan hunts whales
Thailand, Vietnam and India have horrendous animal rights records
Myanmar has horrendous human rights records
India and Pakistan are virtually at war with each other over Kashmir
Hong Kong is still up in arms
It's hurricane season heading West

Travel South America for a month

New Zealand. I would happily spend a month in Norway. Or maybe Antartica... but I'm not sure I could do that on £10k.

I would do Jordan and Israel. Both relatively safe and amazing sights.

I was a bit surprised when OP said to someone upthread that the question assumed travel. It doesn't to me, I suppose I'm not a traveller so just didn't see it.
