As in the big, live, open-air performance in Bishop Auckland. I've just booked tickets as a surprise for my partner for this Saturday night and wondering if anyone's been? all the reviews seem amazing!
Can anyone who's been advise when's best to get there, tips for park and ride, etc?
Thanks - super excited!!

Went a couple of weeks ago, it’s pretty good. I would say get there at least an hour before it starts if not earlier, there is a Viking village to look at, and plenty of food.

The shuttle buses are good, but you need to buy tickets before you go. They are pretty organised at getting everyone to the buses at the end.

Take waterproofs, and something to dry your seat, there was a woman with a cloth doing her best to dry seats for people, but the rain was so bad she was overwhelmed. They don’t let you use umbrellas so that the people behind you can see, so ponchos are the way to go. They sell them there if you don’t have one.

Thanks for the advice on timing - I would like to get their early so there's time for a nice wander round without rushing! Sorry it was raining when you went. :/

We didn’t mind the rain, it actually adds to the atmosphere and the light show looks even better!

It's fab. We got there as early as we were allowed to and walked down.. Its only about 15 min and well marshalled / signed / lit. Plenty of nice food stalls etc. Weather was fine when we went which helps.

We went last year and it was amazing. Wished we could have arrived there earlier than we did.

We bought tickets for my parents last year for my DFs big birthday. Mum went along purely for him but actually ended up loving it almost as much as DF. They were both amazed by it. We paid for the closest car park and shuttle for them too and they said it was really easy and well organised. Enjoy!

Thanks so much for the additional replies. I have paid for the park and ride (as I'm lazy!) but plan to get there in plenty of time.
Partner is going mad not knowing where we're going :D :D
