DD 1st birthday gift

I’m trying to get organised whilst still on maternity leave. As DDs 1st birthday is only 2 weeks before Christmas I’ve decided to try and sort it out now.
She already has so many plastic toys and tat, and will likely be inundated with more at Christmas. I would really like to buy her something as a keepsake but also some sort of investment. The ideas I have so far are;
A piece of jewellery
Coins of some description
Gold
I’d like to avoid any sort of stocks or shares, she already has a bank account that people can contribute to.
Does anybody have any ideas for something special that we could get her?

At 1 and 2, I'd just put money into long term saving for her and the. Just get her a couple of toys for Christmas as they are so close together and she won't know any different.

What about something for the garden if you have one. You can get a small slide/ climbing thing cheaply second hand.

Thanks, that is all being taken care of by various family members who insist on buying toys for both birthday and Christmas. She already has a saving account that has money going into it monthly. Any birthday money will be saved for the summer to buy a garden toy.
She’s the first grandchild on one side and the first in 15 years on the other so they like to spoil her with toys. I just know by Boxing Day my house is going to look like a toy shop.
This is more about us buying something special for my daughter that she would appreciate when she’s older if that makes sense.

We bought DD2 a gold bracelet with her birthstone for when she's older. She loves to have a wee try on and seems to appreciate that she needs to wait until she's older to wear it. Alternately what about a charm bracelet that you could add to every year with a charm to represent something significant so maybe an initial, her birthstone, something to represent starting school, any hobbies/sports she takes up, any pets, etc etc.
Other ideas are some classic children's story books, a special teddy eg/ steiff or a painting for her bedroom wall.
DD1 got a high chair for her first Christmas from Father Christmas. We he even put it beside the Christmas Tree on Christmas morning and took photographs of her sitting in it. She doesn't seem to have been scarred for life by the lack of plastic toys.
Don't be scared of steering others away from the plastic toy mountain. There's probably a lot of things your DD will need in the coming year, I think money towards garden toys is a great idea. I used to find that if you include the word "first" it makes people more amenable to a gift they'd otherwise think was a bit meh eg "why don't you buy her her first wellies so we can take her splashing in puddles once she's walking"

Oh I love the bracelet/birthstone idea, that’s the kind of thing I’m after. Also the steiff bear.
Totally stealing the “first” idea too Grin

Memory box - this year you buy a lovely personalised box and every year (including this one) you put a letter to her and a trinket which represents the year.

@negomi90 what a lovely idea.
