Best beaches for donkey rides?

DS really wants a donkey ride on a beach? Anyone know where this is possible? Ideally in the north east of England but if not then all places considered.

Not sure if it fits into your definition of 'north east England, but Bridlington and Scarborough have donkey rides.

Also no idea of quality/length of ride/price/happiness of donkeys.

If those don't suit, I would have thought somewhere like Whitley Bay might have them? Google is your friend.

Whitby and Cleethorpes

No donkeys at Whitley Bay. I’d go for Whitby or Scarborough although I haven’t been for a few years to confirm this.

Scarborough has donkeys

Maplethorpe (unsure of spelling) used to have donkeys on the beach too.

Mablethorpe in Lincolnshire has them, saw them this week! Kids have to be less than 140cm tall to go on them, I think it was £3 for a ride

Oh don't go donkey riding! Leave the poor donkeys alone.

Donkeys in Spain and Santorini struggling up steep cobbled streets all day carrying enormous adults is obviously bad, but donkeys are domesticated animals and if well looked after and well inspected by the local council there is no reason to ban donkeys from giving rides to children.

The Donkey Sanctuary does not call for donkeys on British beaches to be banned or boycotted, just gives welfare guidelines to be aware of.

Many donkey operators rotate the donkeys so that they get rest days etc.
