Trying to change hospital appt

I’ve been trying to contact the particular department for the past two days. The phone is never answered, you just get told to leave a message. I’ve left four messages requesting a call back giving both my phone numbers. Deafening silence.

I wonder if a significant number of no-shows for hospital appointments are as a result of people trying but not succeeding to reschedule or cancel?

It’s certainly part of the reason in some places. My DD’s hospital is a nightmare for it. Last time it took me 14 attempts to get to speak to someone to tell them the appointment was for the wrong clinic

It’s definitely possible, at one trust I worked in they had no admin staff in one department for a few weeks. They didn’t redirect the phones so there were voicemails full and the poor patients just kept trying and trying to get through. There are too many managers and not enough low grade staff to do what they are meant to and able to.
