I am 51 and looking for a total career change. Considering beauty therapy. There is a level 2 course at the local college which would be the starting point. Any one done this? Any beauty therapists out there? Is it a decent job?

No me, but my DD is about to do level 3, she went straight after school but there is wide mix of ages doing it.

Interesting. I live in a place where there seems to be quite a few spas etc. There is also a large elderly population. Got half a mind to do something mobile eventually, providing a service to older people.

Yes I retrained at 32 have had salons for 20 years. It’s a great job if you’re self employed not so much if employed. I think there’s a lot of competition and there is a bun fight among the lower priced therapists. I think it’s a great career given me a good social life and fun. I probably wd train in nails that’s a licence to print money if you’re good. I’ve just opened anew salon and it’s mainly nails

DD is hoping to do a nail course separately, she knows a few girls from her course who are already making money doing them.
