40th birthday present/keepsake from DC?

Has anyone had their 40th birthday or is it coming up?

What did you get from your DC?

I’d like something that I could keep but nothing over the top or expensive.

Any ideas?

Or if you didn’t have anything, did you do anything?

A friend had a sixtieth birthday recently and all his friends and family dug out pictures of him from new born baby through teen years etc right up to modern day, to create a printed photo book, it was lovely. You get them done online.

But surely with a present from your DC, it's literally the thought - their thought - that counts?

Otherwise it's a present for yourself, that you're telling people is from DC. In which case - 'arrange' for them to get you whatever you want!

It was dh’s 40th this year. The DC “got” him a monogrammed leather wallet with a metal credit card sized photo of them all to put in it.

Don't they chose it themselves, that is the point of a gift.

We bought dh his "dream car" as a gift from the dc (it was a toy Merc 'cos we can't a afford a real dream car Grin and he still has it in its box on the shelf).

Thanks everyone, My DC is only 7 and had special needs. So needs a bit of help with choosing.

Besides a gift, what did everyone do on their 40th anyway?

Pandora or nomination bracelet?

I had a weekend in Edinburgh with dh and dcs and my gift was a kindle and vouchers for books or anything else. I loved it.

Jewellery is always good for a keepsake idea. A nice bracelet or necklace. Maybe with your favourite or birth stone.
