Are skinny men creepy?

I can't remember what the post was about, but recently someone commented that everyone has an instinct for when something is amiss. One of the examples they gave was skinny men being creepy. It interested me at the time but I can't find anything to substantiate the claim. It was said in a factual way rather than as an opinion.

Has anyone heard this before? Is it maybe because men are 'supposed' to be muscular? Or because a skinny frame could be perceived as being skeletal?
Just curious where this has come from, not wanting to offend anyone (my DP is skinny and sexy as hell Grin)

People say odd things. There's no point wondering why.

OverpricedFloorCushion · 21/08/2019 00:27

My DP is unusually skinny, definitely not creepy. He is well liked by everyone.

What an odd assumption to make based on someone's build.

RosaWaiting · 21/08/2019 00:27

That is a mad thing to say

They’re not referring to Slender Man or something? I think an elongated silhouette is a bit of a scary film trope.

GodDammitAmy · 21/08/2019 00:31

I know it's an odd thing to say. As I say, it was on a thread that I can't quite remember but might have been along the lines of someone wondering if there were red flags and someone posted that she was picking them up as an instinctive response, like skinny men being creepy. It surprised me, and wondered if there was something psychological behind it. I guess not!

A lean and slender man can be very attractive.

zebrasdontwearbras · 21/08/2019 01:08

No, I love tall skinny men.

Creepy is an attitude that any man can have - it's not determined by body shape.

EatenByDinosaurs · 21/08/2019 01:08

Wtaf?! No, anyone can be creepy, it doesn't discriminate by build. Skinny men aren't my preference, but I wouldn't say they're creepy Confused

EatenByDinosaurs · 21/08/2019 01:11

I suppose from an evolutionary point of view it would make more sense for women to find strong, muscular, alpha male types more attractive, but I don't think men who aren't are creepy.

avamiah · 21/08/2019 01:20

EatenByDinosaurs,
Yes I agree with you , not every skinny person is a creep .lol
Hahaha

managedmis · 21/08/2019 01:49

Bit odd that

I always had a thing for skinny boyfriends; my sister used to call them the stick insects Grin I never liked fat or muscly men.

formerbabe · 21/08/2019 08:18

I don't think it's creepy. I find skinny men unattractive but that's just my own preference.

sheshootssheimplores · 21/08/2019 08:19

My man is on the lean side, 6ft, not creepy at all.

Babdoc · 21/08/2019 08:20

Surely they’re much more attractive than fat men?!

formerbabe · 21/08/2019 08:25

Surely they’re much more attractive than fat men?!

Why?

Of course some women will prefer skinny men to overweight men, but not all.

I'd rather date an overweight man as opposed to an underweight one. I'm not talking morbidly obese or anything though!

GreekOddess · 21/08/2019 08:34

It's a stupid thing to say. Can you imagine if a man came on here and said that he found women with a bit of a mum tum lazy and weird.

I worked with someone once who said that she found men under 6 foot creepy and weird. She also said that she found men without defined muscles lazy and unmotivated despite not being a gym bunny herself. She remains single...

amusedbush · 21/08/2019 08:37

Surely they’re much more attractive than fat men?!

I fancy fat men more than skinny. I once dated a very slim man and it really put me off.

People have preferences

feelingverylazytoday · 21/08/2019 08:59

No they're not. What a thing to say. It's considered wrong to judge a woman on the size of her body, or to make assumptions about her character and personality, so it should be equally wrong to judge men.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 21/08/2019 09:01

Creepy is an attitude, nothing to do with sex or weight etc.

Surely a skinny man means good health in the main as they likely eat well, exercise etc.

Bezalelle · 21/08/2019 09:12

DP is a sylph of a man, and not creepy at all.

formerbabe · 21/08/2019 09:19

Surely a skinny man means good health in the main as they likely eat well, exercise etc

No necessarily.

They could be skinny for any number of reasons

Massively undereat
Substance abuse
Eating disorder
Genetic

I am only attracted to skinny men but I am size 14 so it makes me hypocritical

Why's it hypocritical?Confused
You have a preference...that's fine.

WorraLiberty · 21/08/2019 09:29

Creepy has nothing to do with weight.

Straight off the top of my head I can think of at least 3 creepy fat men I've known over the years.

I think creepy is more about a 'feeling' than looks.
