What would you wear to an 'informal recruitment event'?

This is what the info says-

"We are holding a recruitment day on Wednesday 4th September 14:00 - 18:00. The recruitment day is an informal event where we are available to answer questions you may have regarding what the role involves, hours and whether this is something that you feel would suit you."

If it helps, the jobs are for a senior crematorium officer and a trainee crem. officer. I don't want to turn up in jeans if everyone else is going to be smart, similarly I don't want to turn up dressed as if for an interview and everyone else be in jeans Although I think smart is probably my best bet, what would you wear?

Black trousers, sensible heel and conservative smart casual top

I'd dress smart .The informal means the talk and questions not dress.

Bearing in mind the job I would go for smart and conservative. Black trousers, nice top not showing much flesh and well cared for shoes with a heel but not too high. Good luck.
