Who has applied for a second passport/citizenship pre-Brexit?

I have long contemplated applying for a second citizenship/passport from Hungary - my DF was born there.

From a little research it seems that there won't be tax penalties if I pay tax here (and reside here most of the time).

However it seems i have to learn enough conversation Hungarian - it's SO hard. Other than that I only have to provide his birth certificate.

So has anyone applied for any other passport in advance of Brexit? Do you think it will make life any simpler, or is it a bit of a waste of time and money?

I have. I'll be collecting it in about a week. Once I have it I can then apply for my DCs which was the main reason for doing it as I want them to have the option of living and working across the EU.

I needed my parents birth and marriage certificates as well as mine and although I speak the local language I was never asked to prove it.

I expect that some things (opening bank accounts etc.) may become slightly harder as there will be more sections to fill in but on the plus side a passport for my second nationality only costs around £25.
