Will the copper IUD get better over time?

Hi,

I had the iud fitted in October last year. Absolutely awful being fitted and the day after I was in so much pain I ended up having to go back to check it was ok/strong painkillers.
After a few days all was fine. Now it’s nearly been a year and every month around ovulation I have bad cramps, I can tell which side Iv ovulated from! Never had this before at all. And my periods are mega heavy (they were anyway). I’m filling my moon cup within an hour on heavy days (15-20ml).

I’m sat here bloated, feeling sore and fed up on day two wondering if it gets any better? I really can’t do hormones as it sends my BPD raging. I’m so scared about having it out too!

I had to go back a few months ago because they had left my strings so long that they hung out!! The nurse said she hadn’t seen strings so long before but now I’m worried what if it had moved?

After my period etc it’s absolutely fine but can sometimes feel like a sharp pain 😩
