I would ban:

Glitter
Plastic sequins
Make up and cosmetics in plastic packaging
Toys that come with children's magazines and food boxes
Petrol vehicles
Clearing land for dairy / meat farming

I could go on but it would be a very long list!

I can’t believe the likes of McDonalds are still giving away plastic crap with their kids meals

Clearing land for dairy / meat farming Just doesn't happen in the UK.

Cars and reduce plane travel.

I have never checked the veracity of it but I remember reading something like for the period after 9/11 when a lot of plane travel was on hold, the earth’s temperature reduced slightly.

FraterculaArctica · 18/08/2019 20:34

Disposable nappies.

growlingbear · 18/08/2019 20:37

all single use plastic
all 'vanity' packaging
built-in obsolescence

millimollimandi · 18/08/2019 20:37

Bloody great big 'gas-guzzlers' cars
Balloons
Amazon delivery multiple orders on the same day by different couriers

ginghambox · 18/08/2019 20:39

Children.

delilahbucket · 18/08/2019 20:40

Ridiculous amounts of plastic packaging on fresh food. It would be so easy to do as well, especially fruit and veg.

joggerbottom · 18/08/2019 20:41

Plastic tablet popper packaging
Hard plastic packaging on toys e.g. LOL Dolls, Kinder Eggs etc

Ban cars from all city and town centres, alongside a programme of affordable transport and more bike racks.

Ban petrol and diesel cars, everywhere within the next decade. There will need to be legal conversion kits available for biofuels if people live in the countryside or else help to buy hybrid vehicles.

Plane flights need to become a lot more expensive to reflect the true carbon cost.

AuntieStella · 18/08/2019 20:45

Air conditioning - double whammy of masking effects whilst adding to the issue

joggerbottom · 18/08/2019 20:45

Convenience food products like ready meals / Dairylea Lunchables etc

TheABC · 18/08/2019 20:45

@ginghambox, how the hell would you enforce it?!

I have scenes of all the kids hiding underground, aka Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

missmouse101 · 18/08/2019 20:50

Large powerful cars. Chilled milk. We can all learn to love UHT. Massive energy saving there.

ginghambox · 18/08/2019 20:51

All the other ideas are just fannying around the main problem.

KizzyWayfarer · 18/08/2019 20:51

Airport expansion. Heathrow third runway is the worst idea ever and loads of other airports around the country are following suit.
New drilling licenses for oil and gas.
Peat compost.
Agree with ‘built-in obsolescence’.

Helix1244 · 18/08/2019 20:52

I would raise food prices to reduce obesity and reduce deals which increase overbuying.

Ban parking so close to schools. I know someone who drives a 4x4 a 2min walk!

Jsmith99 · 18/08/2019 20:54

Coal fuelled power stations.
I would introduce very high taxes on all single-use plastics and ban plastic giveaways, eg Happy Meal toys.
I would introduce a £1 tax on non-recyclable coffee cups.
I would sharply increase taxes on gas-guzzling luxury cars, eg big 4X 4s, Range Rovers etc etc but keep taxes on economical cars the same as now.

KizzyWayfarer · 18/08/2019 20:56

If you’re going to make us all drink UHT milk, why not go the whole hog and switch to oat milk which has a fraction of the carbon footprint?

Sweetpotatoaddict · 18/08/2019 20:56

Dogs

Ylvamoon · 18/08/2019 20:57

All plastic packaging
Synthetic Fabrics
Kids craft supply
Paint & Glue (unless paste)

joggerbottom · 18/08/2019 20:58

I'm going to step in here and say that I started this thread to highlight just how many lifestyle choices have become out of hand and are having a negative impact on our world.

In Gingham's world they can ban children if they want to.

I would love to see a world where future children can live a great life but without all the convenience products that we consume that are so harmful to our world.
