I would ban:

Glitter
Plastic sequins
Make up and cosmetics in plastic packaging
Toys that come with children's magazines and food boxes
Petrol vehicles
Clearing land for dairy / meat farming

I could go on but it would be a very long list!

Watch cowspiracy and David Attenborough on climate change. Cow farming would be high on my agenda

joggerbottom · 18/08/2019 21:53

We decided to go vegan after watching Cowspiracy and What the Health.

Christmas crackers

And all the above, obviously.

Brexit. It will mean loss of the weight of the EU behind environmental regulations and much higher imports of foods and other goods from countries beyond Europe. It’s not coincidence that prominent Brexiteers are also climate change deniers.

StCharlotte · 18/08/2019 22:23

Disposable nappies.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 18/08/2019 22:27

Another ban Brexit vote.

PasDeGeeGees · 18/08/2019 22:30

Clearing tropical rainforest to grow aloe vera.

FuckFacePlatapus · 18/08/2019 22:40

Private flights by The Royal Family

OtraCosaMariposa · 18/08/2019 22:49

Christmas. Or at least buying anything which isn't sustainable to celebrate it.

Bluebluered · 18/08/2019 23:04

Processed shit food like quorn and chicken nuggets. shitty forms of cheese like cheese strings etc. All “vegan” alternative food like substitutes for meat. If you need a substitute for meat then eat the fucking meat.

All plastic packaging in shops for fruit and veg. Go back to paper bags and buying things by weight.

Baby wipes and other wipes.

All cleaning products that claim to kill all
Germs and viruses. We need those viruses and germs to build our immune systems. Let kids get dirty and play, but we may already be too late with that.

TheJoxter · 18/08/2019 23:13

-All single use plastics including nappies wipes etc
-Microplastics
-The kind of plastic tat that breaks really quickly so is essentially single use anyway
-Flying
-Mass produced meat and dairy
-Non-eco friendly cleaning products/toiletries/etc
-Synthetic fabrics
-Anything that can’t be recycled or repurposed or composted once it’s reached the end of its usefulness (like the fish tank PP mentioned)

AmateurSwami · 18/08/2019 23:13

All fast food.

Single use plastic.

Agree with a pp, get ride of cars completely and overhaul public transport.

howwudufeel · 18/08/2019 23:16

Massive fines for littering.

Underhisi · 18/08/2019 23:18

What about those that can't cope with public transport? Do those people not matter?

cricketmum84 · 18/08/2019 23:23

Certain cities (mine included) need to look at their public transport infrastructure before people start lobbying to ban cars!!!

There's no way I would be able to cope without my car for work. I drop DD at one school, DS at another, DH at his work and then onto mine. I would need to leave the house at 5.30am and catch 3 separate buses to do that journey.

NCBabyBoy · 18/08/2019 23:49

Banning buying new without considering secondhand first. Banning wet wipes (seriously, just stop being so frigging lazy!). Banning the sale of plastic bags. Ooh, and this (just popped into my head): labelling new goods, especially those containing plastic, with an overview of the costs to the environment. Banning flying for business (utterly inexcusable) and severely limiting flying for pleasure. Setting up comprehensive schemes to encourage cloth nappy use. Ban tumble driers and AC. Ban single-use coffee cups and bottled water.

TheSandman · 18/08/2019 23:52

Tourism.

TheSandman · 18/08/2019 23:55

@OtraCosaMariposa

OH YES! Ban Christmas! Please!

Arseface · 18/08/2019 23:56

Cars.
But lots of added infrastructure for buses, trains, good cycle/walking paths etc

Arseface · 18/08/2019 23:58

We should also have a carbon cost, like calories, printed on everything we buy.

TheSandman · 19/08/2019 00:01

I'd go with cars too but.... I live 80 miles away from the nearest city. 15 miles from the nearest town, my kids' school is 9 miles away - all in different directions.

I would happily sign up to some common-ownership car pooly idea.

Ellmau · 19/08/2019 00:05

Balloons.

Jux · 19/08/2019 00:09

People.

Redshoeblueshoe · 19/08/2019 00:11

Politicians - they really do produce a lot of hot air

TheInebriati · 19/08/2019 00:36

Capitalism.
Consumerism would be a close second.
