Hello

I need....
internet to 50mb
phone line (house has one but I do not know the provider) to install old fashioned phone to receive calls and make calls ( a few local, occasional to family, emergency if req)
mobile phone for whatsapp but no calls or other internet needed and for receiving calls/emergency to roadside etc only

What would you suggest?
Vodaphone looks cheapest acc to money-saving expert but would you do a bundle or separate?

Thanks in advance Flowers

Vodafone do do a bundle where you can get a mobile and broadband/fixed line at a discounted rate. Are you needing a mobile handset or just a SIM only deal?

They also guarantee their speeds on their broadband. I wanted it but unfortunately can't get it in our new build

JoySuckClub · 19/08/2019 21:42

Ah bless you for replying. Vodaphone's deal ends at midnight but they did not ring me back yesterday Angry so I am going to have to apply online.
I have lost my bloody phone in the shittip I call home so am likely to be buying a new handset but lowest spec. I don't need fancy schmancy, I just need whatsapp or my eldest won't communicate with me!
Thanks in advance x Flowers

I ended up having a bloody nightmare with vodaphone tonight - online application (as it was the cheapest - free amazon voucher and echo) but it would not compute. Cut off deadline was midnight.

So I contacted their live chat call centre and it was absolutely dire. I could have sworn it was a bot at one point. To make matters worse the transcript I received was heavily redacted.

To be honest unless one of you tells me their broadband is the best in the bizz they can do one - I have been completely put off by how crap customer care is.

Would I be unreasonable to stick with BT and pay a bit more? Anyone know if their superspeed works?
They give you 20 quid back if it doesn't. Vodaphone give you 15% off which is only 1.53/month anyway.
Although...if either provider's speed is not what was promised and your speed test is evidence of that, why on earth does that not mean you can cancel straight away?

Ah that's a bit shit. I don't have their broadband like I say but it did win some awards recently I believe 🤷‍♂️

If you're happy with your BT though and don't mind paying a bit extra then do that?

We have Virgin atm and their broadband is great, had a couple of router issues though and they won't replace it with their newest version (we have an OLD version) until it actually breaks properly and have had issues with their customer services a few times but still with them

Vodaphone have failed to ring this morning Angry
Vote with feet time?
Problem being where I am moving to is remote anyway hence the need for speed. Yes Tom.
Not currently with anyone - I am a new customer moving back to the UK so in theory I'm anybody's! Wink
Moneysaving expert is saying
Vodaphone
Plusnet
Shell energy
BT do a 12 month instead of 18 month at slightly higher rate

I just want high speed with reliability and decent enough customer service.

What do you all reckon?

Thanks in advance and for replies thus far x Flowers

I give up - finally got through to a man called James (vodafone) who said he would call me back. You can guess the rest Angry

Virgin media do not do my area.

Does anyone here use Plusnet or Shell energy?

Thanks again x

I'm moving back to the UK as well in October and will be going for Plusnet for internet and landline.

ItsInTheSpoon · 20/08/2019 16:00

BT have good customer service, I’ve found, and you can get discounts on mobile contracts if you also have their landline/broadband. We are rural and they are the only fibre broadband provider at the moment anyway

JoySuckClub · 20/08/2019 21:25

Ta. What swayed you scary?
