Please help me find some decent boots....

Clearly a total first world problem. However I'm totally sick of the shite that I've wasted my money on and the crap quality thus far that ends up going straight into bloody landfill.

We live fairly rurally and I just want a solid pair of water proof boots that I can go for a walk in, brush the mud off the next day and boots that won't turn my local supermarket into an ice rink when wet. I'd be ecstatic if they could actually last years too. At this rate I do not care about the cost, providing they live up to my expectations Grin

Any suggestions please, lovely mnetters?

Fly London. I've had mine coming up 2 years and they're still as good as when I bought them. They're not cheap - £120 for just above ankle - but they're tough, comfortable, stylish and have never rubbed, pinched or leaked. I've got a long pair too which are currently too tight for my fat legs but I'd 100% recommend them

Merrels I have spent £120 on a pair nearly ten years ago and they are still my go to if it's raining or icy.

Mine are like these!

Look at Superdey boots and also Barbour

moonpiggle · 17/08/2019 17:41

Dr Martens. Brilliant and so well made they will last you many years! I reckon they could survive an apocalypse 😊

DeathMetalMum · 17/08/2019 17:46

I have a pair from Ecco with goretex in them that are brilliant. I bought them about 5 years ago and are still going strong. The last two years I have worn them less and saved them for when the weather had been really horrible as I can see they are wearing a bit. Warm and waterproof.

Nearlyadoctor · 17/08/2019 18:19

DuBarry Galway or Clare’s - I’ve had both of mine 10+ years, ridden in them, attended festivals in them, daily dog walk etc. Still fully waterproof ( Goretex -and clean up to be smart enough to wear out with a skirt ( the Clare’s are a more suitable going out style).
Not cheap but worth every penny.

The best pair of boots I have ever owned are by Frye and called tyler double combat. Sorry it won't let me post a link. I got them on offer for £120, 3 years in and they are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned, waterproof and easy to clean! They are still going strong with hardly any signs of wear and I wear them a lot!

Dubarry. Waterproof, comfortable, long lasting.....

LBOCS2 · 17/08/2019 20:40

Dubarry. They are extremely spendy but worth it.

mistermagpie · 17/08/2019 20:43

Dubarry I'm afraid. Mine were over £300 but I've had them for years and they still look as good as they did at first. They are long, so good if you're at the beach or somewhere with long grass, waterproof (goretex) without that horrible cold welly feel and actually look quite nice. Honestly, they are worth the money.

mistermagpie · 17/08/2019 20:45

I have the dubarry longfords by the way.

Dublin river boots are a good shout for cheaper. I also have a pair of those and like them but they aren't a patch on the dubarry.

cornstarch · 17/08/2019 21:20

Ariats. I don't get on with Dubarry

DreamingOfAFullNightsSleep · 17/08/2019 22:42

Nice boots, or more wellie/ functional style?
Absolutely love my Sorels. Lots of different types, I have some Tofino ones which I love! Mine were £150 but I see they're on offer now...

Squiff70 · 17/08/2019 22:51

I've had a pair of these for three years and still look brand new. They're water resistant but not totally waterproof. That said, I've never had wet feet in them yet.
