My 11 week old baby is going to sleep around 8pm and waking around 12:30, then 4 and won’t go back to sleep. I’m trying the baby whisperer schedule of feeding every 3 hours, activity then nap but he wakes after 45 mins sleep, he doesn’t sleep for the hour and half /2hrs it recommends . I tried for 40minsto get him back to sleep but he’s having none of it. He seems tired and when I ssshhh and pat his eyes are drowsy and he looks like he will go off and then his eyes are wide awake again. Do I persevere with getting him to sleep or just get him back up and start the routine again when he is due another feed?

Personally I think the idea of a regimented routine to be awful.

I just breast fed mine when they woke and then went back to sleep as I couldn’t slept with mine.

Never had any sleep deprivation as I just had a couple of naps during the day so that I never felt tired.

Couldn’t means co slept

That would be the ideal but I had a low milk supply so have had to supplement with formula. I’m finding that he just falls asleep when he feeds from me because he’s tired from not sleeping in the early hours. I tried co sleeping but I just can’t sleep. I’m not following it to timings etc, the idea was to encourage more sleep during the day so he doesn’t get overtired really. Maybe it’s not a good idea but I don’t know what else to try really.
