I've lived here over 10 years and have Virgin fibre optic broadband. I have the phone and internet packages, which is cheaper than just having the internet. But I seldom use the phone.
So I'm sick of them pumping up the cost every now and then. Every year or so I'll call them up to complain and they'll lower the bill for a year. But it's now going to be nearly £45 a month! There's only me living here, apart from when my long distance partner visits for a few months at a time.
My partner needs reliable internet for his work (web stuff) as he works remotely from home. So it's good to have the fibre optic (there was only one time it was playing up and he almost went to the supermarket to work but it went back to normal). Other than that it's been good but the prices are just taking the piss.
Is there anyone else who does fibre optic or am I resigned to staying with Virgin and calling to threaten to leave every time they hike up their prices? My dad made some comment about how there wasn't an alternative FO supplier around (mind you this was years ago) and that it's a major pain for them to install.
Any recs or advice? Thanks
