Love foreign holidays but hate flying

Does anyone else suffer from this?
I have a holiday booked to Greece in September but I’m dreading the flight.
I’ve got progressively worse over the years and am now starting to get really stressed.
The stupid thing is that I’ve had loads of holidays and all flights have been okay.
So as not to drip feed I also studied for my private pilots licence and have flown solo. I think that’s what scares me, the noises in the plane and my thoughts as to what they mean. I know it’s ridiculous but I can’t help it.
It’s been 10 years since my flying lessons.
Does anyone else feel the same and if you do, how do you cope?

Bless you, I have got more phobic of flying over the last few years and have had to avoid some work trips as a result. I went to the south of France on a train last year. My friend swears by Lorazepam (GP prescription). But you could also try hypnotherapy (worked for my brother) and those courses would get so at airports?

Sorry, courses you can get at airports

Me! I'm terrible...and booked a flight to Spain last night. Again didn't used to give it a second thought but years of flying with nervous flyers has made me a wreck... Following/ sympathy for you.... I spend a lot of the flight monitoring the sounds... I have diazepam but I don't want to be out of it if you know what I mean

I think you can read this book online (if you click in the headibgs) but in the meantime here's a bit about the noises.

For me it's since I had the children, i catastrophise now. We took a ferry this year. I'm not sure the two hours' vommiting was an improvement on two hours' flying...

I'm definitely worse since having kids. I had to do a work trip to Madrid and just about managed. But the thought of putting my DDs on a plane is too much. It didn't help that my last flight pre kids was rough, and then there were two major air disasters whilst I wasn't flying...Lorazepam is really good. Enough to chill you out without knocking you out IYSWIM.
