I've had it authenticated but I knew it was real when I saw it on eBay - I used to collect Mulberry bags but sold them all when we needed cash about a decade ago. The seller had just listed it as 'khaki bag'. I know it won't be to everyone's taste but little baguette bags are currently making a comeback AND it's the most beautiful old-style Mulberry - thick leather which smells amazing and beautiful bronze hardware. And did I mention it was £4.99?!

I'm so happy!

(Also please take this opportunity to share your best bargains because I do love a bargain story)

Timberland boots size 3 for 20p from the charity shop, actually going to take them after 3 years wear to have the zipper fixed because getting it repaired is still cheaper then buying new shoes!

Mooching around an antique shop saw a couple of cardboard boxes, inside was my wedding dinner service pattern. When we married I had the basic dinner, side plates. I hoped to save up for the rest but it was discontinued. These boxes had all that plus tureens, platters, complete coffee set. How much I asked £60, I took the lot. A plate on ebay is now £25. I did donate the coffee set to a hospice charity shop. But am thrilled to have a twelve place setting plus all the other dishes. gravy boats, soup dishes, jugs.

Wow- great bargain. Only 'bagged' because of your knowledge though. Last weekend I picked up a pair of almost new rose gold converse hi-tops at a car boot sale for £2. They fit both 12 yo did and me. Delighted.

This is a bigger expense but I got a Chloe coat for £99 in TK Maxx today, it was £2300 and is still online for £600.

(It's for my mum because she is amazing)

Bought a set of 6 habitat Hester dining chairs in a furniture charity shop for £5 each. Looked them up online when I got home as they looked hardly used and Habitat are still selling them for £95 each!

A brand new pair of knee high Boden boots for £3.50. They were on the Boden website for £170.
A Karen Mullen astrakhan collared coat for £15, which I sold for £120.
Vintage ruby red, lined cotton velvet curtains for patio doors. They cost me £5.
A Wemyss cabbage rose match striker circa 1900-1910 for just £45.

A Sherman bracelet for £14, Miriam Haskell brooch for £12, Georgian pearl earrings for £33 which I (reluctantly) sold for £195.

But probably my best bargain was a pair of Meissen plates which cost me £12 delivered.
They ended up returning to Germany, which kind of pleased me to see them going home, as did the £550 I sold them for.

Last winter I picked up a black padded winter jacket for £16.99 from the charity shop. I ummed and ahhhed as I thought that was a bit steep for a second hand coat (from what I thought to be, a cheapy markety make which i’d never heard of).

I wore in one cold evening and was incredibly warm. I went home to google the brand and was shocked to see this jacket selling for almost £1000.

That’s a bargain I’ll struggle to top but I will continue to try 😁

D&G men's wool overcoat for £10 - worth hundreds. Got it in a closing down sale. Lasted years of use and looked great on.

GabsAlot · 15/08/2019 23:42

did the seller have no idea how much it was worth then?

MartiniDry · 15/08/2019 23:44

JustAsking I'm a devil for a nice piece of chinaware. May I be nosey and ask the name of your dinner service?

cantchooseausernamehelp · 15/08/2019 23:45

@WoahBodyforrrm What make is it?

About 15 years ago, I bought a Calvin Klein long velvet/velour evening dress for £3:00 from TKMaxx. Looked fab on back then but, I wouldn't be able to wear it now. I also bought a Laura Ashley fully lined linen dress in a CS for £1:00 about 8 years ago.

Gertie75 · 15/08/2019 23:55

Not in the same league but a shop has opened up locally selling second hand clothes for £1, yesterday I bought 2 monsoon dresses, 2 next dresses and a Boden dress for 6 year old DD, she's thrilled to have nice twirly dresses.

Davros · 16/08/2019 00:12

I got a fabulous (in my opinion) mid-century copper coffee table for £zero. Not to everyone's taste but very on trend I believe. It was in the rummaging area of the local dump recycling centre

Don'tcallmeshitley You can have bags authenticated with a certificate from several online services. I've seen Authenticate4U recommended on Mulberry and designer bag Facebook groups, although I have never used them myself.

TanselleTooTall · 16/08/2019 00:45

Well done, all of you!

What a happy thread. I'm reading it with a big smile on my face.

I love charity shopping!

ThelmaDinkley · 16/08/2019 00:55

Woahbodyforrrm was it a Canada Goose coat or Monckler. They’re both very expensive so you got a real bargain.

HarrietSchulenberg · 16/08/2019 00:55

I got a North Face coat for £8.99 for teenage ds1, who didn't like it so it's now mine.
Boden top for £2.
Seasalt dress for £2.
I did try on new Brasher boots that were a fiver but they didn't fit right so someone else got the joy of those.

I've had loads of charity shop bargains over the years but I've probably donated the same value back them in volume of kids' and my clothes.

DontCallMeShitley · 16/08/2019 01:02

@2ofstedsin24weeksistakingthep
Thank you, was wondering if it would be useful for selling although I know my bags are genuine.

When ds was graduating he needed a suit and went to the local Hospice shop. The staff took him in hand and he got a nearly new perfect for Calvin Klein suit and shoes (he only had Doc Martens). While there he thought about the upcoming prom and they also sorted him with dress evening suit, wing collar dress shirt, bow tie and matching cumberband. Assured him the one pair of shoes would do for both suits.

As he was a student and returning to uni to do a 3 year post graduate degree they asked him to accept the clothes with their congratulations. Ds said they mothered him and all had a great time. He gave them £20 which left him with £10.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 16/08/2019 01:18

PP who asked about why you'd donate £££ stuff to charity, sometimes people are clearing a recently deceased family member's possessions and its just too painful to do anything other than bag it up and pass it on.

I donated to charity a lovely coat I really loved wearing, was wearing it when an awful incident happened and just couldn't look at it without memories of what happened come flooding back. Couldn't gift it to anyone I knew incase I saw them wearing it. Glad its gone.

Bunnylady53 · 16/08/2019 01:18

Absolutely love charity shops but don’t live in a wealthy area so the “ posh” stuff is rarer. I also love jumblesales & flea markets

Huntlybyelection · 16/08/2019 01:21

1.5 metres of black pinstripe suiting material in the charity shop. I dithered for about 20 minutes as there was no price. They sold it to me for £1.20. Bargain.

lyralalala · 16/08/2019 01:33

Four pairs of Ruby Shoo shoes for £4-6 each. Three pairs were brand new and the other had been worn once or twice max.

The following week I found two of the matching bags for a fiver each as well.
