Family meals

Sorry everyone posting here for traffic!

I am running out of inspiration and time for my families meals.

Do people use jarred curry sauce for a quick midweek fix? Are they healthy enough for a 16 month old?

I feel like we are living on spaghetti Bolognese, cheesy pasta and fish fingers 😣😣😣😣

Hit me up with your suggestions please! My DD will not eat chicken so that rules out so much!

Try the tomato + chickpea curry on the bbc good food website. So easy and quick, plus you can add frozen spinach to it. Way tastier and healthier than a jar of sauce which will be too salty for your child.
Make double and freeze it.

Also just because she doesn't like chicken doesn't mean you shouldn't serve it sometimes. Just serve it along side something else she will eat.

I wouldn't personally use jarred sauce for curry, pasta or anything- they're full of preservatives and salt.

We normally make a giant tomato sauce once every six weeks or so and freeze loads of portions, then it's really easy to defrost and add more veg/pesto/meat to whilst you're cooking pasta or gnocchi etc. Also do the same with curry, cook loads of extra sauce, into freezer bags and in the freezer ready for next time.

What about stir fry? Beef or veggie if you want to avoid chicken.
Grilled halloumi with roasted veg?
Most of our weeknight meals are things like this, don't take long at all.

I do keep trying her with chicken but she tends to pick it out with disgust. Same with eggs!

She had fried rice tonight which went down well!

Tonnes of great ideas here thanks! I thought the sauce was too salty and always has a tonne of sugar in it as well. I ended up making a curry sauce with tomatoes, curry powder and double cream tonight which she loved. She is a big curry fan but is a faff to make on a normal day! We are currently living with my husband's parents while our house is being renovated but once we are settled it might be easier. Never easy not in your own home.
