Late period . negative test.

TTC #2.
We have a 3.5 year old dd who we conceived in 2-3 cycles.
When I was tracking my period length with her my cycles where 33-38 days in length .
I have started to track them again. Last cycle 35 days . This cycle I'm on day 41 with a negative test this morning .
I've had a good amount of periods this year and they have always been longer than average from when I started them as a teen
Scan 3 years ago showed nothing unusual on my ovaries .
Have I ovulated later than usual and possibly could still be pregnant?
Or is this just a late cycle. As I have long cycles anyway if im late it's going to extra long isn't it .

How long have you been ttc? Just these teo cyckes? Did you use hormonal contraception before? That can have an effect as well for a while.

No. We've just used condoms since dd was born until two months ago

Possible late ovulation? Could cause a late period.

Emmabryant123 · 16/08/2019 07:14

Negative test again today and still on period either .
Ffs.

This happened to me when I was ttc ds2. My period was something like 15 days late then just arrived out the blue. It was like a cruel teaser. Hope you get good news xx

Emmabryant123 · 16/08/2019 07:51

It's been 14 days now since I had a v positive ovulation test stick.
I know that doesn't mean I've ovulated but surely a positive or a period should be here by now
Hate the waiting with long cycles sometimes

I had negative tests with both my dds. I cd tell I was pregnant both times. Ended up going right up to 42 weeks both times too. No idea when I ovulated but you cd be pregnant. But of course you might well not be.....

whattodowith · 16/08/2019 10:03

My periods have been erratic since my youngest was born. I’ve had anything from 34-40 day cycles. Apparently it is relatively normal to have irregular cycles after childbearing.

You can also have months where you don’t ovulate at all so skip a period entirely, that has happened to me in the past.

Emmabryant123 · 16/08/2019 10:07

Mine have always been long between 33-38 days before my dd
I haven't tracked since having her until we started TTC again but ugh this is cycle day 42 and nothing ...
My daughter is 3 now wouldn't they of returned to normal now ?
I've probably had about 5-6 periods so far this year but I haven't been tracking

OP posts:
Emmabryant123 · 16/08/2019 10:07

Also I usually have a week or so off v heavy discharge each month which I haven't had this month .
Possible I haven't ovulated this month ...

You say this year your cycles have always been longer, so I think you need to only start assessing “late” based on how long your cycles are now not on shorter cycles you had pre-DC.

FWIW after my first, when my cycles eventually came back they were definitely longer than before. I know others who had long, irregular cycles who were made regular by having children.

Emmabryant123 · 16/08/2019 10:46

Thanks :)
I guess we just have to try regularly for a good few months yet :)
Last time around I was convinced I wasnt ovulating to and we had a healthy dd.
I do suffer with anxiety

Period here this morning on day 43.
I did get a positive ovulation test exactly two weeks ago so makes sense as the luteal phase is usually about 14 days isn't it .
Can only hope the longer cycles don't mean I'm not ovulating.
They didn't last time with dd 😬
Anyone with longer cycles gone onto have pregnancies easily ?

My cycles are long and can be erratic. Investigated and no underlying cause. Between 35-37 days, but sometimes up to 45. Pregnant w/o trying first time (just stopped contraception), second fell pregnant in first month but early miscarriage, successfully pregnant again in 2nd month. 🤞🏻 for you op

Emmabryant123 · 17/08/2019 10:23

Thanks
It took 2-3 cycles with my first and my cycles when I tracked was between 33-38 days then

My bleeding has completely dried up.
Usually the first day of a period for me is needing to change a super tampon every 2 hours .
I haven't needed more than a thin liner and my blood was pink and then old brown stuff .
Completely gone now .
Will re test in a few days if it doesn't start up properly soon. It usually starts up straight away v heavy .
This is either a weird cycle or late implanting as apparently that takes 7-14 days I'm roughly 13-14 days post ovulation according to tears

OP posts:
Emmabryant123 · 17/08/2019 13:36

Tests not tears

Late period . negative test.

I remember when I was TTC many years ago reading that very long cycles could mean that you hadn't ovulated, this is confirmed by an unusually light period. However that would not explain your positive ovulation test.

Emmabryant123 · 17/08/2019 14:21

Yes me too but my periods are never light usually.
This is either a weird cycle and I haven't ovulated this time or a pregnancy

OP posts:
BalloonSlayer · 17/08/2019 14:25

What I meant is that 40 days + I think might indicate a lack of ovulation, but 35 days is ok. (And I expect it depends on what is normal for you. When I was younger I had long cycles, but with the stress of TTC they turned into the Tour de Bloody France!)

Emmabryant123 · 17/08/2019 14:33

Yes absolutely I know what you mean
I will test in a few days to a week if my period doesn't start up properly
