A new Lidl has opened in town. Going this afternoon. Never been to one before. I am buying for me (vegetarian), two small DC (not vegetarian) and Mother, who is a Sainsburys shopper, supermarket snob age most disgruntled that a Lidl has opened in town Grin

So what can you recommend?

I find the fruit and veg goes off quite quickly. I have to use it all within 2 days of buying. But their raspberries are much nicer (sweeter) than Sainsbury's ones and cheaper too.

Their lower calorie, high protein (Goodness) ice cream is nice and much cheaper than the equivalent in Sainsbury's (for some of which they charge twice as much as Lidl so £5 rather than Lidl's £2.50).

Low GI Brown bread cob. Best bread going from a supermarket. Their chocolate. Dishwasher tablets. Fresh orange juice. Greek yoghurt. Fab shop.

All of their own brand chocs are good - especially the fake Bueno, and the tiny ones that are like kinder bars, but hazelnut and strawberry flavour. Big bags of mixed nuts are brilliant (no padding out with peanuts). Their own vanilla icecream is very vanilla-y, and the mango sorbet is way better than M&S.

Don't forget "the middle of Lidl" offers Grin

Toffee hummus. Any cheese. Their chocolate and own brand sweets (Mars bars and Liquorice allsorts) are lovely.
I've honestly never had anything I didn't think was ok.

Toffee yumyums!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I only saw some after i’d been so i’ll look out for those next time.

I got the lasagne, whipped Greek yoghurt corners, pies, frittata, chocolate, amongst the basics.

Tomato ketchup, better than the leading brand. Knightsbridge Gold Tea bags. Anything from the bakery!
