Where do you go for your winter sun...?

Late Jan/early Feb would like to do a week away in the warmth. Have not been away at that time of year before... No children to consider.

Considered Tenerife but understand the weather can be a bit disappointingly cold and rainy.

Australia is too far for a week and I wouldn't want do a long flight vs the number of days away.

Looked at the Carribean and Barbados seems to be the most well thought of and safest but hotel rooms are coming up at £500 ish per night on the west coast which is too steep for me.

Cape Verde is warm at that time of year, less than 6 hour flight and not too expensive. Although there is not much to do outside the resorts.

Egypt. Adult only hotel great for a week doing nothing.

Oh and it can be quite windy there!

Goa (although a long way for a week).
Lanzarote should be fine (I did Christmas there once and it was low 70’s, as was Cyprus but we also had rain).
The Gambia.

If you stick to the very bottom of Tenerife the weather is much more predictable. Aroma/San Miguel downwards is warm and sunny most of the time, there are beaches etc. We then plan trips up north when true weather is good up there and hide out in the microclimate of the south when it’s not.

Arona

Thanks, Cape Verde was not one I'd thought of...

I like Gran Canaria somewhere in the south of the island but the weather can be dodgy although it’s only been a problem once in more than 10 years, in late Jan/ early Feb.

Marrakech

If you can stretch to two weeks, South Africa.

No jet lag & should be reasonably priced if you avoid local school holiday timings.

Cuba. We went first week of Feb 5 years ago, weather was thirty degrees and sunny every day. We loved it, felt completely safe whilst there, beaches are stunning. Package holidays are very reasonably priced and there's a good variety of excursions you can do. 8 hour flight from UK.

We did Barbados last year in Jan had an AirBNB on the west coast for £800 for 10 nights.

We're just back from 2 weeks on Sal in Cape Verde. Would definitely consider it again but for a week of Winter sun. Very little rain at any time of the year I'm lead to believe.

However, outside of the resort we stayed at, it is pretty barren and not a huge amount to do. If you like lounging by the pool with a drink, it's perfect. We travelled with TUI to an adult only resort.
