I know my way around a sewing machine very well and have done basic dress making ect and can vaguely follow a pattern.

I have come across this lovely poncho pattern looks easy enough now its only up to size 18m if i cut an inch or so bigger will this make it bigger my DD is 2 but shes a small 2......how would i line it I want to make it in fluffy soft fleece and line with faux sheepskin. For the lining when cutting do i lay the both fabrics out then put the faux sheepskin (onesided) wrong side or just a replica of the "top layer" (outside of coat) and then how the heck do i line it am lost .....

I would basically make 2 the same but do not hem the hood. To join them put both right sides together and stitch around the hood. This will join them and hem the hood.

I would:
Cut two, one in each fabric, put together if more than one pattern piece, sew both together with right sides facing and leave a gap in the hem at the back, turn it the right way out through the hole, and hand sew closed.
I don't know how to scale up though.

Layout pattern on the fleece material and cut out. Tailor tack or chalk any notches etc.
Then do the same with the lining.
Make up outer garment using instructions and the lining in the same way.
Than you can stitch the two together RS together leaving a small gap to turn through and slip stitch closed. Topstitch to keep in place.
However using this method although the simplest may mean that the lining shows a little on the edges. If the lung is cut a little shorter on the hem edges the outer part of the garment will roll in a little so the lining doesn't show

ok so make two identical cape things. Right sides facing one another then sew together, leaving a gap to turn back from inside out then topstitch?
