What white paint for North facing lounge

Hi guys.

I have a north facing lounge which is always dark and dingy!! It's currently painted in Dulux Chic Shadow.
I've made the conscious decision that I need to paint it white to brighten it up. But what white?

I'm really not set on painting it PBW because I'm scared it'll be cold looking. I've read online a warmer white would be better. But I don't want cream.
Have seen a few posts online saying Timeless white?

What's your thoughts?

Don't want to go anything too 'creamy' trying to get as white as possible without it being cold.

I don't want to say I've got a cream lounge. I want to look at it and think it's definitely white but look warm - if that's even possible!!

I had Jasmine white in a north facing lounge, it worked well with warm coloured accessories and there was nothing cream about it.
Timeless although that may verge too close to cream.

I like both Dulux Timeless and Crown Milk White. They are both definitely white but aren't cold.

Farrow and Ball Wimborne White, it's a beautiful creamy white with a gentle glow to it and a subtle creamy colour so as not to be cold.

I have Dulux Timeless in my north facing rooms. It’s the only white I found that didn’t look too cool or too cream and that suits all aspects (some rooms have windows on 3 aspects).

I really like Crown Sail White and Dulux Swedish White.

We have Dulux white cotton in a north facing bedroom, and I liked it so much I used the same shade in our kitchen / dining area recently. It's definitely white rather than cream, but softer / warmer than PBW.

Just got a tester of white cotton and jasmine white 🤞

Timeless looked too cream in real life and almond white looked too dark

Agree with PP who suggested the light reflecting paint. We painted our sitting room in it and it's amazing.
Ours is actually the light reflecting and the super tough stuff, it was eye wateringly expensive, rather like slapping liquid cocaine on the walls Wink

F&B Pointing

@TreacherousPissFlap do they do this type in Matt? Or is it silk? X

Just done white cotton in our kitchen, definitely cool but it is soft and definitely white not cream which I really like.

Abraid2 · 15/08/2019 15:24

Agree with Dulux almond white.

F&B skimming stone is nice too.

Whitecandle · 15/08/2019 17:01

@Sleepathon do you think it's quite creamy? I just tested both jasmine white and white cotton and the jasmine looks soooo creamy but the white cotton looks really cool....

Another fan of Jasmine white in our north east facing room.

ExpletiveDelighted · 15/08/2019 17:14

My parents have a Jasmine white room and I don't like it at all.

Tatapie · 15/08/2019 17:16

I changed from Jasmine as it was quite yellow next to the grey/green cabinets

Grasspigeons · 15/08/2019 17:22

I like jasmine white but it is yellow. I think the warmth in white comes from its creaminess. Can you find a white with a hint of red. F&B are good at saying the base of their colours. Then you can colour match

Whitecandle · 15/08/2019 17:28

The patch by the number 8 is White Cotton. Number 3 is Jasmine.

Think I prefer white cotton now!

Worried it'll be too cold tho

I’ve just gone through all of this, had loads of testers and changed my mind a couple of times once the paint was on Hmm

I wanted a soft warm white, in the end went for Valspar Soft Wool and it’s lovely. Bright and airy but with a warm touch.

Whitecandle · 15/08/2019 17:45

@GingerFoxInAT0phat can you post a pic?

We’ve used the deluxe light and space as well and they work great, really brighten up a dark room. I think we used morning light
