Smelly eBay purchase

Odd question - ordered an item from eBay says very good condition all happy!

Opened the plastic and the smell of old smoke is revolting. I have contacted the seller - should I be entitled to a refund?

I would presume very good condition meant that it didn't smell...

Some plastic mailing sacks do have a smell resembling smoke.

Wait and see what the seller says.

Is it a washable item?

Returns are usually not accepted on eBay, especially if it didn't make the claim 'pet and smoke free home'.

It's probably the mailing bag. A lot of them do have a weird smokey smell.

Once bought a coat on eBay, the seller said it was very good condition. It absolutely reeked of stale cigarette smoke. I washed it 3 times, hung it outside to air for hours, still smelt. I contacted the seller and she gave me a partial refund. She said her OH smoked and didn't realise the coat smelt, was very apologetic.

There’s a world of difference between the smell of the packaging, and stale cigarette (or cigar) smoke.

I’d contact the seller, and how firm I’d be would be down to what the auction page said (exactly). Many things just can’t be washed enough for the smell to be purged. Make enough fuss that at least they think twice next time. Yurrrgh.

Not really washable - seller understood and all sorted.

I normally look for smoke free but presumed due to the condition described it would be ok.

Was wondering if any one had anything similar - but all ok.
