I came here to vent about our summer that has been spoilt by the weather and injury and illness and thought others might like to vent as well. So this thread is to get it all off your chest and have a good moan!
The week or so before the children broke up it was glorious sunshine albeit too hot for our fair/red hair and freckles combo. Since then we've had torrential rain, thunderstorms, floods and the local dam at risk of collapse. We rely on public transport and the two local train lines were closed to where we wanted to go.
Last week was muggy, wet and then very windy and wet. This week isn't much better and next week is forecast for more of the same. To compound it all one dc has a broken wrist so our usual activities of swimming, bike rides and the play park are not possible. My lovely mum who we do a lot with is currently ill and out of action and will be for the entire holiday.
Next week is my last week of the holidays with them (they are with their dad this week) and we were hoping to go to the seaside, outdoor swimming, local caverns, picnics, and wrist aside the weather is not favourable.
We are an outdoor family. Going to the cinema is not something we do often and we aren't into museums (especially now the youngest is out of the buggy and is everywhere in the blink of an eye 😩).
It will no doubt be glorious sunshine all the way through September 😬
I've woken up cold the last two nights and tonight I have cold feet. Cold feet in August ffs when I live in sandals from March to October!
So next week could be a challenge. The plan is the World and maritime museums in Liverpool one day, hopefully the seaside for a couple of days and maybe the cinema if there's something on in our town for the children as it's only one screen.
It could be worse-I feel sorry for all those who have booked holidays that have been spoilt by the crap weather.
Here's to lovely sunny and warm weekends in September to help make up for it.
Next summer I'll be driving and that will make a difference along with hopefully no broken bones.
I feel better for getting that out!
Vent away!
