Id also recommend mfp theres a site called iifym to give you a calculator for carbs, fats, protein. Once you get into the habit of scanning/weighing, it's easy. Ive saved a lot of money eating more healthy contrary to mainatrwam opinion. (Sorry for grammar/spelling on phone)

I lost 6.5 stone in a year following Slimming World

You CAN do this op! There are lots of ways you can keep on track and they don’t have to cost much:
Download my fitness pal, put in EVERYTHING you eat and stick to the calorie limit.
Invest in some healthier treats - I am a chocolate fiend but if I have some fibre 90 brownies and slim fast bars in the house then I can usually curb my sweet tooth at half the calories of a chocolate bar.
Download 30 day fitness for some small fitness challenges and also try out YouTube videos like weight loss yoga.
Get an app like Pacer to track your steps - you don’t have to do 10k everyday, but it helps to have a goal and watch yourself slowly achieving more and more steps.

Am well pleased as I'm not due to weigh in till Sunday (weekly) but had a sneaky look and have already lost 4.5lbs Shock Grin

I know it starts off like this and slows down but am super pleased.

Yep, I lost 7 stone. Not quite in a year but I did have a baby in the middle of it so that slowed me down! Come over to the 100lbs+ thread in weight loss forum. Don't worry it's not quite 100 you are aiming for, there's loads of tips and advice. A change like this is a lifestyle shifty, not a diet.

I am almost halfway to my goal (4stones to lose in total, have nearly lost 2). I think my biggest help has been cutting out bread. I am also calorie counting and avoiding sugar that isn't in fruit. And limiting cheese 😁

birdling · 14/08/2019 10:49

Sorry, meant to add, it has taken me about 4 months

birdling · 14/08/2019 10:51

Nope, 3 months

I found the combination of 5:2 and MyFitnessPal is the best thing. You have to be brutally honest with yourself, and log absolutely everything you eat, but if you do fall off the wagon one day, you can easily see how to make it up later in the week.

I do think you need to plan proper meals, if you feel hungry it is much easier to be tempted. It is also much easier to keep it up when you have got to your target weight.

Have a look at the Pinch of Nom website for recipe ideas and meal planning advice.

DW lost 4 stone in a year (she was fairly slim when she started so it's not just big people who lose weight fast).
