Slugs having a party in my kitchen

Just about to go to bed, and I have discovered a commune of slugs in my kitchen. I think 2 of them were having it off. FFS.

I hate the creatures, they really make my skin crawl. How on earth do I get them out, and how on earth did they get in in the first place? There are no obvious holes or gaps, and all of them were in the same corner.

I might go and sprinkle salt on them, but then I will be left with slug mush to clean up.

They can get in under doors and through teeny gaps, you can get copper tape from garden centres or DIY stores that you put down along door ways to stop them.

Whereabouts do you find them? In our house they used to get in through some crevice behind the washing machine, I remember leaving the damp towel on the floor for wiping the boots and there was a fucking slug party underneath.

I told DH to sort out this shit when he casually admitted that he “might know” which way they’re getting in. This is after finding the trails of slime on the worktop and one slimy fucker committed suicide in my sink (one of the rare evenings I left the washing up till the morning)

I can clean up everything, piss, shite, puke but this was grim. I was retching trying to entangle my cutlery from some fucking slug alien slime.

They are gone now - salted, and flushed down the loo.

Thanks for the recommendation for copper tape @Lwmommy. They must have got in through the French doors, although they are 3 feet above ground level with an overhanging balcony, and our house is pebbledashed, so they must have been determined to get in. I'll get some tomorrow.

@FrenchBoule, years ago I found one giving birth on my dish cloth. I was quite traumatised after that.

But we are generally a slug free house, which is why tonight has been so shocking.

We have 400 ft of slug friendly stone wall around our garden. I'm fighting a losing battle...

Shovel them outside and then salt on window sills, in backs of cupboards etc
