Has this happened to anyone? Amazon delivery fraud/theft.

My housemate has just received an Amazon delivery of an ipad and stylus ... except that when he opened both boxes, he found that he has received two packets of Weetabix and a tin of tomatoes (obviously because they're a similar weight)!

Additional info:

The package was going to be delivered last night, but the courier knocked and didn't wait - so it was redelivered this afternoon.

It didn't look like the box had been tampered with, but that doesn't mean it wasn't.

Currently, Amazon are saying that he can't be refunded immediately and there needs to be an investigation first (understandably) - but they have also said that 'it was an ipad when it left us'.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Not amazon but had a tablet stolen when citylink delivered a few years ago. They have to put a sticker on the packaging about the batteries so I think that's how they know.

You still have protection on a debit card.

I had amazon claim to deliver a tracked parcel, I did have to make repeated contact for the refund but got it after a few days

Ah, thank you, @Northernsoullover - and I take it back @Indicative. He'll be pursuing that route if Amazon doesn't come through.

Hello! Just to update - Amazon failed to get in touch after the promised amount of time, but then refunded immediately, and in full, after a bit of a nudge.

I'd love to know if they found out what happened though!

I had a parcel marked as delivered but never arrived. Amazon were good, though, and immediately refunded when I queried it.

It was a multipack of condoms so I guess the thief got screwed too.

Great tourist rip off in Singapore 30 years ago. You'd buy a video player or camera had to be in a sealed box to get the tax back through customs, you'd get home open the box and find it full of bricks.
