Help me out good people of mumsnet. Is this beast a beetle or cockroach?

Please tell me it's a beetle!!!!! It was in my garden.

This is definitely not a cockroach!!!!!! It looks more like a violet ground beetle than anything.
Please please don't kill it....

Saying that it's antennae are smaller...female stage beetle is likely as PP have said.
