New job and pregnant

Hi all

I started a new job a few weeks ago and have recently discovered I’m pregnant. Do I not mention this until after my probation has ended or be honest? This is my 3rd pregnancy and always show very early on in my pregnancies so I’m not sure I can get to 17 weeks with hiding it!

I also gave an early scan this week and a midwife appointment next week during working times and not sure what excuse I can come up with for needing to leave the office twice in 2 weeks. What should I do?

I waited until my 20 week scan (and after I passed my probation period). Could you say you have to take your DC somewhere?

Probation or not, you dont have full employment rights until 2 years service is completed, and you probably wouldnt have grounds for a tribunal either.

I could try I pass my probation on week 16 so maybe I just hold off until I’ve passed it I should be able to hide it. Will have to wear really oversized things.

We’re you entitled to SMP or maternity allowance seeing as it was a new employer?

Just MA. But my employer was kind enough to give me 12 weeks at full wage just because :)

That is very lovely of them! I’d been with my old employer for 3 years and still only got 6 weeks full pay with DC 2
