Worried about persistent pain in thigh

I've had a strange pain very intermittently in my left thigh (sort of side to back near the top but not actually right at the top of the femur) for months although I only feel it for a second or two at a time maybe three times a day.

It's a bit like the pain from a torn muscle, sort of an ache but not really, sort of burning but not really. Is that a shooting pain?

I saw the GP who did a few stretches to see if it was sciatica and it didn't seem to be but they gave me a few exercises to do anyway. They said they can't really think of any muscle groups there or what else it could be and come back in a couple of months if still there.

It's not at all severe or getting worse or really bothering me day to day but I do worry about it because I've sadly lost a couple of friends to cancer recently, and we are only in our 30s. I think a sarcoma would be extremely unlikely but it is on my mind.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

It sounds exactly like sciatica to me I've been a sufferer since a very young age, I have a slight scoliosis and one leg a bit longer than the other so I think I was doomed from the start! Ask to see a physio they are the experts, although some are far better than others!

Thank you - I'm sorry to hear you've been affected for so long and hope it doesn't cause you too much pain

Mine isn't, I just worry in case it's something more sinister but sciatica makes the most sense so it's comforting to know it sounds like it could be

Hi I know this is an old thread but did you get to the bottom of it? Mine has started doing the exact same thing!
