Maternity Leave Plan

I'll be going on ML in late October. I do want to stay in touch with work but I know there are regulations about it.

Ideally I'd like to help every now and then with questions they might have that it's best for me to answer (all language related). And possibly ask to work part time from home for the last three months. Going back FT once the 12 months expire, but hoping to keep some of the WFH hours.

Does this sound doable? How would you approach it?

I expect your work will have a procedure to put in a flexible working request? They legally have to consider these although can refuse if there’s valid business reasons.

Also, you can work 10 days (KIT days) during your Mat leave. Anymore and mat leave will end.

Do you mean work from home before you take maternity leave? Would that affect any company enhanced pay?

Assuming you mean the part-time before you leave, looking at it from the company's point of view what benefits would it give them?

If you mean to work 3 months part-time at the end of your maternity leave, you'd need their agreement and any more than 10 KIT days would mean you were back at work.

Do they have people who work from home already, OP?

Yes, I've read about KIT days, would answer brief emails every now and the be counted as them? Surely only if I get paid.

My workplace has no HR... All HR is done by the owner, in fact I'm their first pregnant employee!

I would try and do the 10 kit days in the last 3 months when smp runs out. If you do them in the 9 mths it could wipe out the smp.
3 days a month would top up the last 3 months when there is no pay.

I also agreed that my accrued annual leave was spread out so i took 1 day annual per week until it ran out, so worked 4 days but got paid full time.

I meant the last three months of my ML. They used to offer WFH for developers but I'm in a completely different department.

You can answer emails if not getting paid in addition to your maternity pay.

You can do up to 10 paid KIT days during your mat leave which are subject to mutual agreement between you and your employer.

Any arrangements on returning from mat leave re: home working or reduced hours will need to be agreed with your employer. If they’re happy to do this on an informal basis then I don’t see why that can’t be done, but otherwise you’re entitled to put in one flexible working request a year which they are obliged to consider.

Once you start working after the 10 kit days are used up your ml ends. What you could ask to do is return and use accrued al to reduce the days/hours you work per week so ease yourself back in.

Thanks @Lou573 that's a good starting point. I know I can do project based things but it would be to their discretion.
