My ketones are showing as 160 mg/dl this morning; and I'm a bit baffled by what that means...
Some potentially relevant background. I've only lost 4kg since March. I saw a dietician in late June who made me a plan that was basically meat & veg for breakfast and lunch, nuts as a snack through the day, and then a 'normal' tea (but to have small amounts of carbs). It had been going well, but I had a dodgy week last week... I ended up having a fairly 'normal' amount of carbs each day, which isn't great. The weekend wasn't much better, I had four slices of bread overall and a few small potatoes yesterday.
I had some random bleeding last night, so the doctors gave me some sticks to pee on and record the results - but ketones are showing as 160 mg/dl; which the packaging says is not good. I've taken three, a few hours apart each time. I'm waiting for a call back from the doctors but knowing this place, it could be a while...
I feel alright overall, tired and quite achey but okay.
Does anyone understand ketones? Do I need to do anything?
