Would you complain?

Got file and polish last night at local salon within a hotel.

Worst nails ever! The therapist put the polish on rely thick and made a real hash out of the whole thing. Didn't even pain down the whole nail so the bottom bits are unpainted. She had to redo the thumbs twice as I pointed out they were not right.

Didn't want to make a fuss as she was absolutely lovely and it was obvious that she was not long out of college. I was so unhappy with them that I came home took them off and redone them myself.

Of course DH moaning at me saying I should have done them myself in the first place but it's nice to get them done properly. Although on this occasion I have done them 100% better than the therapist.

At £20 I am miffed and feel I should call and complain / give feedback. Would you complain or let it go?

Did you take a photo of them? I think the best time to complain was probably when you were there. Also if it wasn’t gel polish, they don’t seem to last very long. I had a mini manicure once at a hotel taster evening for £10 and that had chipped by the time I got home. However, I go to a beauty salon at a hotel, and they would probably redo them if you rang up. Gel polish would last about two weeks but is more of a pain to remove yourself.

Yep got DH to take pics although it's hard to see how thick and horrible they are in the pics. I didn't complain as I was last appointment of the day could tell they were all keen to get away. Also they took payment when I arrived so decided not to hang about. Also thought it would be awkward for the girl who as I said was absolutely lovely. Didn't have to heart to say anything at the time. She didn't get a tip though!

In my experience, a very small gap is left at the bottom of the nail. The paint is not meant to go all the way to the cuticle.

I can't for the life of me remember why this is done though!

I would ring the salon, and explain that you are unhappy and what you have said in your post, explain that you are giving feedback rather than complaining. Also say you didn't say anything at the time because you felt uncomfortable to do so as she seemed new and didn't want to knock her confidence. ( I have done this and was offered for my nails to be done again for free) and this salon should too. I still use "my" salon
